The Zaire flag design was adopted in 1971 and was created by Mobutu Sese Seko. This flag was used until his overthrow in the First Congo War. The design consisted of the traditional Pan-African colours of green, yellow and red with a green field charged with a yellow disc in the centre. The disc depicts an arm holding a flaming torch.
The green symbolised the hope and faith of the people of Zaire. The yellow disc represented the natural resources of Zaire and the flaming torch for the spirit of the nation and the red of the flames for the blood of the martyrs of the Nation.
Our World flags are finished with a loop at the top and bottom of the flag to be used with clips to attach to the rope and run up a flag pole. Clips are included with the flag for your convenience.
