The Seychelles flag was adopted in 1996, and consists of 5 bands in different colours, running diagonally from the lower left side (hoist side) across to the fly side of the flag. The order of colours on the Seychelles flag are: blue, yellow, red, white and green. The bands symbolise a dynamic new country moving into the future.

The colours symbolise the following:

Blue- the sky and the sea surrounding the country. Yellow is for the sun, the giver of light and life. Red for the people and their determination to work toward the future in unity and love. White represents harmony and social justice and the green is for the land.
