The Senegal flag design consists of a tricolour in green, yellow and red vertical stripes. The centre yellow stripe contains one green star in the middle. This design was adopted in 1960 and since Senegal gained independence that same year, the design has stayed the same since.
The green, yellow and red are colours of the Pan-African movement and the pattern was used on Senegal's flag to signify unity. Nationally, the green is symbolic of the countries religions. The government states that the yellow is a symbol of weath and also the colour of the arts, literature and intellect. Red is the colour of blood, symbolising the life and sacrifice given for the nation - and also determination to fight against underdevelopment.
Our World flags are finished with a loop at the top and bottom of the flag to be used with clips to attach to the rope and run up a flag pole. Clips are included with the flag for your convenience.
