The Portugal Flag design was adopted in 1911 by the First Portuguese Republic, less than a year after the downfall of the constitutional monarchy. The design consists of a rectangular bi colour with a field unevenly divided into a green stripe on the hoist side, and a wider red stripe on the fly. The national coat of arms is centered over the colours boundary, at an equal distance from the top and bottom edges.
Symbolically the green is to represent the hope of the Portuguese people, and red the blood of the people who died serving the country.
Our World flags are finished with a loop at the top and bottom of the flag to be used with clips to attach to the rope and run up a flag pole. Clips are included with the flag for your convenience.
