Luxembourg Flag - This flag was officially adopted in 1993 however had been used previously in 1845 to 1848 - Luxembourg had no flag until 1830, when patriots were urged to display the national colours. The flag was designed as a tricolour of horizontal red white and blue stripes in 1848 but not officially adopted til 1993. The colours are derived from the coat of arms belonging to the House of Luxembourg. The design is almost identical to the flag of the Netherlands aside from a lighter blue and red being used, and it is longer.
