Materials
Printed flags are made from knitted polyester, a light fabric which flies well in light winds.
Fully Sewn flags are made from woven polyester (also known as flag bunting), which is thicker and considered more durable than knitted polyester.

If you'd prefer to dispose of your old flag at home, national flag protocol advises the flag should be destroyed privately and in a dignified way, such as being cut into small unrecognisable pieces and disposed of with household rubbish.
This design was adopted in 1992 after the country's independence was declared - this flag replaced the flag of the Kirghiz Soviet Socialist Republic that had been used previously. The current design consists of a red field with a yellow sun in the centre - the sun depicts a yurt in the middle of it, designed to be what one sees when waking up in a yurt (traditional tent) with the light shining through the 3 crisscrossing laths across the circular opening at the top of the yurt.
Symbolically the red stands for bravery and valor, and alludes to the purported emblem hoisted by Manas, the national hero of Kyrgyzstan. The sun represents peace and prosperity, while its 40 rays stand for the number of tribes united by Manas to fight against the Mongols, as well as the number of followers he had.
