Guatemala Flag - This flag was adopted in 1871 and is a triband design of two blue stripes and one white stripe. In the center of the white flag is the Guatemalan Coat of Arms.
The blue stripes represent that Guatemala is a land located between two oceans, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The blue also represents the sky. The white is for peace and purity. The coat of arms in the centre, depicting the national bird (resplendent quetzal) that represents liberty. A parchment scroll bearing the date of independence from Spain, the crossed rifles signifying Guatemala's willingness to defend themselves if need be. It also has a bay laurel crown which is a symbol of victory and the crossed swords for honor.
The colours are also based on the flag of the former Federal Republic of Central America.
Our World flags are finished with a loop at the top and bottom of the flag to be used with clips to attach to the rope and run up a flag pole. Clips are included with the flag for your convenience.
