Chad Flag - This flag is a tricolour flag, made up of vertical stripes of blue gold and red. The current design has been in place since 1959. The Chad Flag and Romanian Flag are almost identical, the only difference being Romania uses a cobalt blue not indigo, which has sparked international discussion. In 2004 Chad asked the United Nations to review this, but the President of Romania at the time announced no change to the flag would happen.
The colours of the flag are a combination of the French flag (blue red and white) and Pan-African colours(green yellow and red). In addition, the blue represents the sky and hope, the gold is the sun and desert, and the red signifies the bloodshed over independence. Despite the political upheavils within Chad since independence, the flag has not been changed. Prior the 1959, the flag used was the French tricolor.
Our World flags are finished with a loop at the top and bottom of the flag to be used with clips to attach to the rope and run up a flag pole. Clips are included with the flag for your convenience.
