Cape Verde Flag
Cape Verde Flag - Prior to independence from Portugal, Cape Verde did not have an official flag, instead using the Portuguese flag. In 1975 the original national flag of Cape Verde was introduced, using the African colours of red, green and yellow and was identical to the flag of Guinea-Bissau except for the proportions and the shield in the hoist-side stripe. The new design of blue, red and white stripes with yellow stars came into effect in 1992.
The 10 stars represent the main islands of the nation. The blue the ocean and sky, while the band of red and white represents the road towards the construction of the nation. In addition the red and white are said to represent effort and peace respectively.
Our World flags are finished with a loop at the top and bottom of the flag to be used with clips to attach to the rope and run up a flag pole. Clips are included with the flag for your convenience.
