El Salvador Flag - This flag consists of a triband design made up of 2 blue stripes and 1 white stripe, with the coat of arms in the centre of the flag. The blue stripes represent the two oceans that border Central America, the Pacific and Atlantic. The white stripe in the centre represents peace. This design was first adopted in 1912.
The coat of arms in the centre is surrounded by the words "Republica De El Salvadore En La America Central' (English: Republic of El Salvador in Central America).
Since 1822 till 1912 there have been 10 other flag designs in use, all incorporating the blue and white stripes but in varying shades and designs. There are also two variants of the flag in use today, both with the same blue and white flags, one is plain with only those colours and the other has 'Dios Union Libertad' in yellow text through the middle of the white stripe (English: God, Union, Liberty).
Our World flags are finished with a loop at the top and bottom of the flag to be used with clips to attach to the rope and run up a flag pole. Clips are included with the flag for your convenience.
